Answers, in plain language.
What is grinding machine retrofitting?
Grinding machine retrofitting means keeping the mechanical body of the machine — the bed, spindle and slideways — and replacing everything electrical and control related around it. Axis Mechatronics strips out obsolete relay logic and unsupported drives, then rebuilds the machine on modern Delta PLC, HMI, VFD and servo control so it runs accurately again with spares that are still available.
Which grinding machines can Axis Mechatronics retrofit?
We retrofit cylindrical grinders (plain and universal), centreless grinders (through-feed and in-feed), surface grinders and internal grinders. We also take on imported or orphan machines where the original supplier no longer offers support, by reverse-engineering the grinding cycle from the machine itself.
How much does a grinding machine retrofit cost in India?
Cost depends on the machine size, the number of axes to be automated and the condition of the mechanics, so we quote only after a machine survey. As a guide, a control retrofit is usually a fraction of the price of replacing the machine with a new one. Send photos of the machine and its nameplate on WhatsApp for an initial assessment.
How long does a retrofit take?
Most grinding machine retrofits are completed in a few weeks from approval, covering design, panel building, programming, installation and commissioning. The exact schedule is confirmed after the machine survey and depends on component lead times.
Why does Axis Mechatronics standardise on Delta PLC and HMI?
Delta hardware is reliable, competitively priced and — most importantly for a plant in Gujarat — spare modules are readily available locally. That means your machine stays serviceable long after handover instead of becoming obsolete again. We work with Delta DVP and AS series PLCs, DOP-100 and DOP-B HMIs, MS300, MH300 and C2000 VFDs, and ASDA servo drives.
Do we receive the PLC program source code?
Yes. Delta source programs, electrical schematics and I/O lists are handed over with every job and are never password-locked. Your maintenance team can service and modify the machine without depending on us.
Which areas does Axis Mechatronics serve?
We are based at Phase 4, GIDC, Wadhwan, Surendranagar and work across Gujarat, including Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Morbi, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Vadodara and Junagadh. We take enquiries from across India and travel for installation and commissioning.
Do you also manufacture control panels?
Yes. We design, fabricate, wire and load test PLC panels, automation panels, machine operator consoles and MCC panels in our own workshop at GIDC Wadhwan, and supply as-built drawings with every panel.
What is the difference between a retrofit and a control upgrade?
A control upgrade replaces obsolete electrical and control hardware so the machine keeps doing what it already does, with parts you can source. A retrofit goes further and redesigns the grinding cycle itself — servo infeed, auto cycle, spark-out and size holding. Which one you need is settled at the machine survey.
Do you work on machines you did not retrofit?
Yes. We take on standalone Delta PLC, HMI, VFD and servo programming, panel work and breakdown support on machines built or retrofitted by somebody else, including machines whose original program was lost or password-locked.
What do you need from us to start?
Photos of the machine, its nameplate and the existing control panel, sent on WhatsApp, are enough for an initial assessment. A firm quotation follows a machine survey at your plant.
Do you provide breakdown support after handover?
Yes. We provide installation, commissioning, operator training and breakdown support across Gujarat. Because you hold the unlocked source code and full drawings, your own maintenance team can also handle much of it without waiting for us.
